The Cissy Room
March 6, 2015

Front/Space presents The Cissy Room, the inaugural show of the venue’s 2015 spring exhibition season. This curated event focuses on the long distance internet collaboration between artists Chloe Coover (Philadelphia) and Molly Hewitt (Chicago). Much like everyone’s first myspace friendship, Coover and Hewitt were introduced via profile images and earnest messages, quickly connecting over shared aesthetics. A fascination with transformative spaces and bedrooms as containers for fantasy was mutual, though they visualized these notions through their own distinct use of installation, video, and performance. Upon deepening this dialogue, ideas of gender and sexual expression emerged as the native language for exploring these realms. After months of partaking in the tradition of using the internet as a safe space to freely express themselves, Coover and Hewitt have now conjured an analogue dimension we invite you to experience.
