Jumping Off
Jessica Borusky
Friday July 10th 2015
7-9pm

Front/Space presented Jumping Off, a durational performance work and installation which surrounds its’ viewers in a vignette of the frontier. Throughout the day, artist Jessica Borusky attempted to ready herself for an expedition into the American West, packing material according to pioneer records including personal objects, flour, meat, coffee, and sugar. Using language from both historical documents and contemporary culture, Jumping Off is a satirical work that collapses historicity and a tenuous narrative.

While the performance began in the afternoon, the audience was invited into the space to witness this work at any time. The day culminated in an attempt to begin moving west at sunset.
